JAKARTA - A meme that has gone viral on social media is a Borobudur Temple stupa that resembles the face of President Joko Widodo. The police said they would investigate and trace the perpetrators of the meme maker.

"We are currently investigating and cyber profiling," said Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo when confirmed, Tuesday, June 14.

This two-star general also reminded everyone to be wiser in using social media. Because criminal sanctions can ensnare him.

"Because digital traces can be used as evidence in the legal process as regulated in the ITE Law," said Dedi.

It was later discovered that Roy Suryo had uploaded a meme of a temple ornament stupa with a face that allegedly resembled a head of state. The photo was uploaded via his Twitter account @KRMTRoySuryo2.

The photo of the meme with the background of Borobudur Temple is given a narration that smacks of the government's plan to set the entrance fee for Bodobudur Temple at a high nominal.

"During the weekend, twit lightly. In line with the protest against the plan to increase the ticket price to Borobudur Temple (from 50 thousand) to 750 thousand which (as appropriate) was DELAYED, a lot of netizens' creativity changed one of the iconic open stupas in Borobudur, FUNNY, he-3x AMBYAR," wrote Roy Suryo in the description of his upload.

However, Roy Suryo has taken down the meme upload of the Borobudur Temple stupa which resembles the face of President Joko Widodo. This post has been widely criticized for insulting Buddhism and Jokowi.

In his upload, Roy said, the meme was not created by himself directly but by another account on Twitter.

"So that no one will provoke again & be considered 'editing' because of their misunderstanding, then I drop the post, case close," explained Ro.

In fact, Roy also included the account that first uploaded the meme.

"Obviously there have been 2 ORIGINAL Uploader Accounts before," Roy tweeted, including the uploader's URL link.
