Hasto PDIP: Ibu Mega Is Looking For A Leader Who Dares To Take Responsibility

JAKARTA - PDI-P Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto said his party is in no hurry to find the names of presidential and vice presidential candidates to be carried in the 2024 Presidential Election. Moreover, the registration of new candidates will be carried out in 2023.

This was conveyed by Hasto at the opening of the Technical Guidance (Bimtek) for Members of Provincial and Regency/City DPRDs throughout Indonesia at the Grand Paragon Hotel, West Jakarta, Tuesday, June 14.

Initially, Hasto explained that he had asked the Chairman of the General Elections Commission (KPU) Hasyim Asy'ari about the stages of the election. From that answer, PDIP decided not to rush in choosing who to carry.

"I asked him (Chairman of KPU Hasyim Asy'ari, ed) when is the registration for presidential candidates? Then Mas Hasyim answered August 2023. It's still August, brothers and sisters," said Hasto in front of his cadres who were present at the technical guidance event.

"So there is still time for us, for the chairwoman, who has a mandate from the congress, to really take a good look," he added.

Hasto said Megawati would not be careless in choosing a presidential candidate. The 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia, he said, would look for someone who could be responsible.

"What Mrs. Megawati Soekarnoputri is looking for with a people's mandate are candidates for national leaders who dare to be responsible for the future of 270 million Indonesian people. So it's different from the others," he said.

Furthermore, Hasto emphasized that the candidates for the presidential and vice-presidential candidates should not be those who have high electoral status. "What is important is actually ensuring the PDI-P's national agenda. Therefore, we are strengthening consolidation," he said.

"So when the time comes for Megawati's decision to determine the presidential and vice presidential candidates. We have prepared powers from the center to the regions," said Hasto.

PDIP is holding a structural consolidation towards the 2024 General Election and Presidential Election through the Technical Guidance and Technical Guidance for Members of Provincial and Regency/City DPRDs throughout Indonesia. This activity was opened by Hasto Kristiyanto.
