Don't Want To Look Shabby, West Jakarta City Government Asks Street Vendors In Petak Nine To Maintain Cleanliness

JAKARTA - The West Jakarta City Government cooperates with street vendors (PKL) to maintain the cleanliness of the Petak Sembilan area, Taman Sari.

"We are fixing it little by little so that it doesn't become slum because it is impossible for the sub-district head to do it alone, street vendors and businessmen there are also involved," said the sub-district head of Taman Sari, Agus Sulaeman, quoting Antara, Monday, June 13.

This was done to beautify the Petak Sembilan Market area for the Tourism Village Award event which was held this month.

In addition to cooperating with 126 street vendors and local entrepreneurs to protect the environment at the location, the sub-district is also actively seeking collaborators to revitalize the area.

He hopes that in the near future his party can get collaborators to carry out revitalization so that the Petak Sembilan area becomes more beautiful at the Tourism Village Award assessment event.

"Of course the revitalization process must be in line with the tourism village event," he said.

Previously, the West Jakarta (Jakbar) City Government (Pemkot) decided to revitalize the Petak Sembilan Market after previously there was a discourse to relocate traders to Glodok Market.

Agus confirmed that the revitalization of the Petak Sembilan Market will focus on improving the place so that traders can trade comfortably.

In addition, his party also ensures that the roads in the Petak Sembilan area can be used by pedestrians and motorists.

"There will be measurements of the existing space in order to facilitate traders without losing the function of the road," he said.
