JAKARTA - Traders of sacrificial animals in Central Jakarta are strictly prohibited from holding animal merchandise in public facilities (Fasum) areas such as sidewalks, road shoulders, parks and others.

The Assistant for Economics and Development (Asekbang) of the Central Jakarta City Government, Bakwan Ferizan Ginting, said that it was not justified for traders to place sacrificial animals on sidewalks and parks.

"What is clear is that social and public facilities are not allowed to be used as places for trading," said Bakwan Ginting to reporters, Monday, June 13.

Bakwan Ginting said that there were traders of sacrificial animals who held merchandise on the sidewalk because it would create traffic jams and disturb pedestrians.

It is hoped that traders will hold merchandise in locations that can accommodate them to trade.

"We will also try to find locations where they are trading shelters. This step is so that traders can sell well in a place that does not disturb residents," he said.

Bakwan also said that his party in the near future together with the Central Jakarta Marine and Agricultural Food Security Sub-dept. will conduct an inspection. This is to prevent animals from contracting mouth and nail disease (FMD).

"Later, we from the city level together with the Central Jakarta KPKP Sub-dept. will go to the shelter for selling sacrificial animals. We will check all the health of the animals, whether they are old enough, whether the animal is diseased and check the completeness of the documents," he said.
