Pursuing RLS Target, Bogor Regency Government Immediately Requires 1 Teacher To Teach 5 Out Of School Residents

BOGOR - The government of Bogor Regency, West Java, will immediately require one teacher to teach five residents who have dropped out of school, to achieve the target of the average length of schooling (RLS).

"So if there are teachers who are neighbors, keep on teaching, just follow them. Help us as well as the local government so that RLS increases, so that welfare also increases," said Acting Bogor Regent, Iwan Setiawan in Cibinong, Bogor, Antara, Monday. , June 13.

The program called Mawar Sagu or Five Citizens One Teacher, said Iwan, is expected to be carried out by educators in Bogor Regency, by attracting neighbors or their relatives who have not received education up to junior high school.

“So one teacher teaches five people, then they are directed to follow the equality package. It is hoped that this can accelerate our RLS achievements," said Iwan.

Now, the average length of schooling in Bogor Regency is 8.31 years, which is still much lower than the national average length of schooling, which is 8.54 years. The figure of 8.31 years is still far from the target of the Bogor Regency Government through the Smart Bogor Karsa program, which is 8.61 years in 2023.

In addition to the Mawar Sago program, the Bogor Regency Government is also trying other strategies, such as optimizing the role of educational institutions and educators' professional organizations. Then, the Bogor Regency Government also involved village heads to accelerate the nine-year compulsory education, in order to increase the RLS rate.

Iwan assigns village heads (kades) and sub-district heads to curate data on population of school age and 25-55 years of age who have not yet reached the nine-year compulsory education, by optimizing the roles of RT and RW.

The reason is, the Bogor Regency Government will conduct an assessment of the sub-districts and villages in relation to RLS achievements.

Village heads and sub-district heads were also tasked with encouraging pesantren with no formal education to work with the Teaching and Learning Activity Center (PKBM) to form a muilah education unit.
