One Period, Three Governors Lost First Child: South Sumatra, Kaltara, To West Java

JAKARTA - The death of the son of the Governor of West Java Ridwan Kamil, Emmeril Kahn Mumtadz or Eril adds to the list of children of regional heads during this period who died. During one period of regional head leadership, there have been three governors who mourned the loss of their children.

On Thursday, August 19, 2021, the eldest daughter of the Governor of South Sumatra Herman Deru, Percha Leanpuri died while undergoing postnatal care at the Mohammad Hoesin Hospital at the age of 35.

At that time, Percha's condition, who is also a Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives for the 2019-2024 period, had fluctuating conditions until he was critical after giving birth to twins by caesarean section. Percha breathed his last at 17:45 WIB.

Then on Monday, February 7, 2022, the son of the Governor of North Kalimantan Zainal Paliwang, Noviandi Arya Kharisma died in a single accident on Jalan Senen Raya, Central Jakarta at around 00:45 WIB.

Noviandi, who was also a member of the National Police, died in a Toyota Camry car numbered B 1102 NDY which was driven by a PSI cadre named Fatimah. Arriving at Jalan Raya Senen, Central Jakarta, from south to north, the car seemed to have lost control and immediately hit the busway separator.

The police had named Fatimah as the driver as a suspect in the accident. Although the suspect has been determined, investigators have decided to stop handling the fatal accident case. The reason is that the suspect has died.

Furthermore, recently, Eril, the eldest son of the Governor of West Java Ridwan Kamil, died of drowning in the Aare River, Bern City, Switzerland. During a visit to seek further education, Eril was swept away by the current of the Aare River and declared missing since last Thursday, May 26.

At that time, the Swiss SAR Team and the relevant authorities immediately launched a search. The Swiss authorities' search was carried out starting from expanding the range of monitoring points, using a 3 meter depth detection sensor, monitoring floodgates, to fielding search dogs for bodies. Ridwan Kamil and his family also had time to directly monitor the search process.

After 14 days of searching, Eril's body was finally found on Wednesday, June 8 at around 06.50 am Swiss time. Eril's body was found by a woman at the Engehalde Water Dam, Bern.

Since Eril's body was found, the Indonesian Embassy in Bern immediately prepared repatriation by issuing a death certificate. Eril's body was flown in one flight (direct) brought by Ridwan Kamil and his family from Zurich Airport and arrived at Soekarno-Hatta Airport on Sunday, June 12 at around 15.25 WIB.

Furthermore, Eril's body was taken to Pakuan Building, Bandung, by land. Then, Eril's body will be buried on Monday, June 13 at 09.00 WIB at the family-owned cemetery in Cimaung, Bandung.
