Couples Who Will Marry In South Sulawesi Are Required To Be Free From Drugs

MAKASSAR - The Provincial National Narcotics Agency (BNNP), the Health Service, and the Ministry of Religion of South Sulawesi launched the Clean Drug Program (Bersinar).

The program will require that every bride and groom who wants to get married must be free from drugs.

"Couples getting married in South Sulawesi must be drug-free. This is an agreement between the South Sulawesi BNNP, the Health Service, and the South Sulawesi Ministry of Religion," said Head of the General Section of the South Sulawesi BNNP Sudarianto as quoted by Antara, Sunday 12 June.

He said that couples who would accept consent or be married off by officers from the Office of Religious Affairs (KUA) were required to take a urine examination.

"After being declared drug-free, he then received a letter of recommendation to continue the marriage," he said.

According to him, this policy provides information to the public that the eradication of drugs by the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) and its staff is now not only through prosecution, but also through education to the public.

The Shining Program, he continued, was part of public education and a form of support for the eradication of drugs by the South Sulawesi Provincial Government.

The Head of the Regional Office (Kakanwil) of the South Sulawesi Ministry of Religion Khaeroni stated that before entering the stage of marriage, the two brides and grooms must be physically and mentally prepared in order to give birth to a reliable and faithful generation.

Meanwhile, in terms of health, the Head of the Health Service, Bachtiar Baso, said that in addition to the bride and groom, they must know about reproductive health, they must also be free from harmful substances so that the Shining Program is rightly intensified in the field.

In response to this, one of the prospective brides at Nursiah in Ujung Tanah Sub-district, Makassar said he agreed with the Bersinar Program.

According to him, this is so that each prospective bride and groom know the condition of their partner before marriage and marriage.
