3 Students In The Field Drift While Swimming In A River In Heavy Rain

PADANG - Three students from a State Vocational High School (SMKN) in Padang City, West Sumatra, were swept away while swimming in the Lubuk Tongga river, Balai Tongga Village, Koto Tangah District, Padang City.

Head of Emergency and Logistics for BPBD Padang Basril said reports from witnesses that initially four students were going to swim in Lubuk Tongga and did not know the weather conditions would be heavy rain and high river water discharge.

The three students who were swept away were Ikhsan Maulana (16), Sintia Vita Loka (16) and Ulfa (16).

Meanwhile, the witness who survived this incident and reported that his three friends were swept away was Aditya Nugraha (16).

"This witness immediately reported to local residents and reported to the Padang City BPBD," he said, quoted by Antara, Saturday, June 11.

Officers immediately went to the scene and collected the available information data.

According to him, a search cannot be carried out at this time due to heavy rain conditions and a large amount of water discharge.

"We are waiting for the water to go down first, then search for the three people who were swept away," he said.

BPBD Padang together with Basarnas, PMI, Koto Tangah Police, the community and others, were still searching for the three victims.
