JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has extended the term of office for members of the Honorary Election Organizing Council (DKPP) for the 2017-2022 period from community leaders through Presidential Decree of the Republic of Indonesia Number 63/P of 2022.

"President Jokowi signed the Presidential Decree on the extension of the tenure of DKPP members for the period 2017-2022 on June 8 and we have received it," said DKPP chairman Muhammad through the YouTube channel, quoted from Antara, Friday, June 10.

"Extending the term of office of members of the Honorary Election Organizing Council for the period 2017-2022 elements of community leaders, respectively on behalf of, Ida Budhiati, Didik Supriyanto, Muhammad, Alfitra Salam, Teguh Prasetyo," reads a copy of Presidential Decree 63/P 2022 distributed by the parties. The presidential decree signed by President Jokowi on June 8, 2022 explains that the extension of the term of office is valid for a maximum of 3 months starting from June 12, 2022.

The extension is valid until the stipulation of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Indonesia concerning the Appointment of DKPP Members for the 2022-2027 Period.

The consideration of the extension contained in the Presidential Decree, namely that the DKPP members for the 2017-2022 period will end their term of office on June 12, 2022.

Then, based on Article 155 of Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning General Elections, it is stated that the DKPP members from elements of community leaders are five people.

Furthermore, due to the end of the term of office of the five people, while the process of proposing the next period of DKPP members from the community element has not been completed, it is necessary to extend the term of office of the members of the DKPP for the period 2017-2022.

"So to ensure the continuity of the organization of the Honorary Election Organizing Council, it is necessary to extend the tenure of the members of the Honorary Election Organizing Council for the period 2017-2022 elements of community leaders," reads the consideration of Presidential Decree 63/P 2022.
