BOGOR - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) cannot deny that the national number of COVID-19 cases is increasing slowly. However, Jokowi emphasized that the transmission of COVID-19 in Indonesia was still under control.

The President said this after attending the launch of the Mangrove Rehabilitation Program and the World Mangrove Center in Bogor, West Java, Friday, June 10.

"The most important thing is that we stick to the positivity rate, that's the handle. It has to be below 5 percent, we are now at 1.03 percent. So it's still in a controlled position," said Jokowi.

In the last three days the number of positive cases of COVID-19 in Indonesia rose from 300 to 500 in a day.

"I have asked to watch out for a slight increase because yesterday, three weeks or a month ago, because we were Eid, but I think this increase is still under control," said Jokowi, as quoted by Antara.

According to the President, this can be seen from the positivity rate - the ratio of the number of people who are positive for COVID-19 to the total number of people being tested - which is still at 1.03 percent.

"Then also the transmission rate is still under control. The number is 20 per 100 thousand cases per week, and we are still at number 1. So it is still under control, but vigilance is important," he said.

The President encouraged residents to undergo a third dose of COVID-19 vaccination or a booster dose to increase the body's resistance to the attack of the disease.

"Therefore I will emphasize again the importance of the booster, the third injection, we will continue to do this," he continued.
