Online Prostitution Pimp Arrested At Jambi Star Hotel

JAMBI - Member of Sub-Directorate IV of the Jambi Regional Police's Criminal Investigation Unit arrested an online prostitution pimp from the MiChat application with the initials AS (32).

This pimp was arrested at one of the five-star hotels in the Kedun Handil area in Jambi City, Wednesday, June 8 night.

"The US pimp was arrested in the hotel lobby while waiting for a woman who was trafficked as a sex worker in the hotel room with a man", said Jambi Police Public Relations Head Kombes Mulia Prianto as quoted by Antara, Thursday, June 9.

The US has become the target of police operations. Members of Sub-Directorate IV moved quickly after receiving information that in one of the five-star hotels there were frequent criminal acts of trafficking in persons employed as commercial sex workers by the perpetrators.

Members of Sub-Directorate IV then raided hotel rooms and found one non-husband and wife partner. After being questioned, the man ordered a woman from the perpetrator using the MiChat application. After being investigated, it turned out that the woman was controlled by a man named AS.

"We immediately arrested the US perpetrator. Muncikari was arrested while waiting in the hotel lobby", said Kombes Pol. Mulya Prianto.

Data from the police, so far the perpetrators are targets of operations (TO) cases of criminal acts of trafficking in persons (TPPO) that employ women as commercial sex workers.

There have been quite several victims and the US perpetrators have been operating in Jambi for more than 1 year, moving locations from five-star hotels in Jambi City.

There was also evidence that was secured by a box of male contraceptives, one cellphone, and IDR 300 thousand in cash.

The US perpetrator is now being detained at the Jambi Regional Police to undergo a legal process. There is also an article that is suspected of being the perpetrator, namely Article 2 of Law Number 21 of 2007 concerning TIP with a minimum threat of 3 years and a maximum of 15 years in prison.

Meanwhile, the suspect confessed that he had been a pimp throughout 2022. He admitted that he could earn hundreds of thousands of rupiahs in a day from trading women as sex workers.

The role of US actors is to look for mashers through the MiChat application, while women just wait in hotel rooms.

After negotiating with the masher, the perpetrator directed him to a room that had been booked in advance.

While waiting for the illegal transaction to be completed, the US waited until the proceeds were shared with the prostitutes. Every time a man goes on a date with a woman, the perpetrator gets IDR 50 thousand to IDR 100 thousand.
