Declaration of support for the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan as a presidential candidate for the 2024 General Election by the Assembly of the President/IST

JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria responded to the declaration of support for DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan as a presidential candidate for the 2024 Election by the Assembly of the President.

Riza said that his party did not need to take a special stance on the group declarations filled by former sympathizers of Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia (HTI), the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI), and ex-terrorism convicts (napiters).

"If the DKI Provincial Government is a government organization. So, if we don't participate in supporting and supporting, we must be independent, independent and neutral," said Riza at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Wednesday, June 8.

Although the DKI Provincial Government is not involved in practical politics, Riza said that his party welcomes the public to give political support to certain figures.

"Citizens have the right to be elected and to vote, including supporting or not supporting a candidate. That's the right of the citizens, we respect it, it's the right of the citizens. So far the election is good, we hope that the next election will be even better," he said.

Previously, a group of people named "Our President's Assembly" held a declaration supporting DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan as a 2024 presidential candidate at Pancoran, South Jakarta.

It is known at the location of the activity that a flag with the words monotheism in black and white is displayed, similar to the HTI attribute alongside the Red and White flag.

The flag was on display from before the event started. There was tension because the committee asked that the flag with the word monotheism that the participants had put on it be lowered.

Currently, the South Jakarta Metro Police are investigating the alleged raising of the flag of the banned Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia (HTI) organization during the declaration of support for Anies Baswedan as a presidential candidate for 2024.
