BANTUL - Bantul Police Chief, Special Region of Yogyakarta, AKBP Ihsan appealed to the public to be aware of the circulation of counterfeit money when making cash transactions, following the arrest of a counterfeit money maker in Baturetno Village, Banguntapan District.

"We urge the public to be more vigilant and careful in transacting using cash," he said at a press conference on the disclosure of counterfeit money at the Bantul Police Headquarters, Antara, Monday, June 7.

The public can detect whether the cash is counterfeit or not by looking carefully, touching, and looking at the notes.

"In the past, we often heard calls from BI (Bank Indonesia) with 3D, namely seeing, touching, and seeing, I think it still applies, although now there are many non-cash transactions that are safer, but our society still uses cash transactions a lot," he said. .

Therefore, he said, if people have doubts about cash from transactions, they can apply these three steps, especially if the transaction is carried out at night.

"Actually, at first glance, fake and genuine money can be seen, but if we look at it we are not sure we should touch it and it will be seen. If real money is visible if we touch it, especially in prominent places, for example on the Pancasila symbol," he said.

He gave an example like the counterfeit money produced by the perpetrators from Banguntapan, Bantul, when touched equally, especially when on the surface there are no colors or images of heroes.

"So that's our appeal so that people remain vigilant in transactions, especially Bantul, a tourist city, so that many people come from everywhere so they need to be careful, especially at night because usually the mode will be done at night," he said.

In revealing the case of making counterfeit money, the police arrested a man with the initials TN who sells liquor on a daily basis.

The counterfeit money produced by the perpetrators and then secured by the police along with evidence of printing equipment totaled Rp. 12 million consisting of 113 pieces of counterfeit Rp. 100,000 or Rp. 11.3 million and eight pieces of counterfeit Rp. 50,000 or Rp. 400,000.

"From the suspect's confession, it is planned that this money will be used every time someone buys alcohol, so if there is a return, they will use counterfeit money. This is a confession from the suspect, but this counterfeit money has not been used by the perpetrators," he said.
