East Luwu - The residents of the coastal areas of Matano and Towuti Lakes, East Luwu (Lutim), South Sulawesi are grateful for the attention of the central and provincial governments. Residents are happy to get sea ambulances that help with medical treatment in coastal areas.

"We have received continuous assistance from both the central and provincial governments. Thank God we got sea ambulances, school buses and ferry boats," said Timampu village resident Umar in a written statement, Thursday, October 22.

According to Umar, assistance for ferry boats and sea ambulances can reduce the costs that must be paid by residents. Local residents, he continued, are also worried about using community-made ferry boats that can only carry two to four cars.

Not to mention the cost for a minibus up to IDR 300 thousand. Meanwhile, for two-wheeled vehicles it ranges from IDR 50,000 to IDR 80,000. He hopes that with the new ship, the price is quite affordable for the local community.

"Hopefully it will decrease by 50 percent. We sometimes go around the road around the land because we avoid paying for the ferry," he said.

For the safety of passengers, Umar is very confident about the two motorboats crossing from the Ministry of Transportation. The reason is, starting from the speed, load and comfort for passengers, it is more promising.

"100 percent we are very sure to cross with this new ship. The previous ship was old, so we are very worried," he concluded.

Meanwhile, the representative of the Timampu community, Rahman, explained that during the 14 months of making the KMP Patilang, the progress of his work was always monitored. He is very confident in the quality of the ship.

"We are very confident. We have seen the manufacture ourselves. The provincial and central governments that finance this, he said, are expensive. These are tens of billions of ships," he concluded.
