In The Midst Of A Dynamic World Situation Full Of Challenges, President Jokowi Calls Cooperation With Australia Important

JAKARTA - Indonesian President Joko Widodo said strengthening bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and Australia is increasingly important in the midst of a very dynamic and challenging world situation.

This was conveyed by President Joko Widodo in his remarks at the Indonesia-Australia bilateral meeting at the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java on the sidelines of the Australian PM Anthony Albanese's state visit to Indonesia.

"In the midst of a very dynamic and challenging world situation, it is becoming increasingly important for Indonesia and Australia to continue to strengthen bilateral cooperation," said President Joko Widodo as witnessed by the Presidential Secretariat Youtube live broadcast in Jakarta, Antara, Monday, June 6.

President Joko Widodo said that apart from bilateral interests, Indonesia and Australia can also contribute to strong cooperation for peace and prosperity in the region and in the world.

Meanwhile, prior to the bilateral meeting, the two leaders had held face-to-face meetings and discussed a number of issues.

The President on this occasion welcomed PM Anthony Albanese and his delegation.

"Of course it is an honor for me to receive this visit. The first visit," said President Joko Widodo.

Also accompanying President Joko Widodo in this bilateral meeting were Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno LP Marsudi, Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang, Minister of Trade M Luthfi, Indonesian Ambassador to Australia and Vanuatu Siswo Pramono, as well as the Director General of Asia Pacific and Africa at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Abdul Kadir Jailani.

Meanwhile, PM Anthony Albanese was accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs Penny Wong, Minister of Trade and Tourism Don Farrell, Minister of Industry and Science Ed Husic, Member of Solomon Luke Gosling OAM, and Australian Ambassador to Indonesia Penny Williams.
