Megawati Tests Hasto Kristiyanto's Dissertation At The Defense University

BOGOR - The fifth President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof. Dr. (HC) Megawati Soekarnoputri will examine the dissertation of doctoral student Hasto Kristiyanto in the Open Promotion Session of the Defense University (Unhan) Sentul, Bogor, West Java, Monday 6 June.

Besides Megawati, a number of professors will also be examiners, namely Prof. Dr. General Pol (Ret.) Budi Gunawan as external examiner 1, General Pol (Ret.) Prof. Muhammad Tito Karnavian, MA, Ph.D. as external examiner 2, Prof. Dr. Komarudin as external examiner 3, Prof. Evi Fitriani, MA, PhD., who is also Professor of International Relations at the University of Indonesia as external examiner 4, and Prof. Dr. S. Pantja Djati, SE, M.Sc., MA, Professor of Trisakti University as external examiner 5.

As an internal examiner for Hasto's doctoral program, Prof. Banyu Perwita, MA, Ph.D, Prof. Dr. Irdam Ahmad and Major General TNI. Dr. Joni Widjayanto who also acted as Chair of the Session accompanied by the Secretary of the Session, Dr. Herlina Saragih.

Former Minister of Defense Prof. Ir. Purnomo Yusgiantoro, PhD became the Promoter for Hasto to get his doctorate. Rector of the Defense University, Admiral TNI Prof. Amarulla Octavian is the 1st Co-promoter and Lt. Gen. TNI Retired Dr. I Wayan Midhio M. Phil as Co-promoter 2.

In his doctoral dissertation, Hasto's research is entitled "Soekarno's Discourse on Geopolitical Thought and Its Relevance to National Defense".

During his two years or so as a student of the Defense Science study program, this man from Yogyakarta researched a lot about the proclaimer's gait when he led the early days of the Republic of Indonesia, especially his ideas on geopolitics for national defense.

Secretary General of the PDI-P DPP Hasto Kristiyanto admitted that he was nervous about undergoing the Doctoral Program Open Session.

"Excitement is a matter of life. Hahaha," said Hasto, quoted by Antara.

Moreover, the Fifth President of the Republic of Indonesia Megawati Soekarnoputri, who will be one of the examiners in the trial, has put 'pressure' on Hasto.

"I was nervous, yes, Mrs. Mega added, 'I will ask you a very difficult question', so I was nervous," he said.

Based on information, a number of ministerial-level officials and heads of state institutions will be present to witness the Open Examination for Doctoral Promotion Hasto Kristiyanto.

Based on the layout in the Red and White Hall, you can see the seat for DPR Speaker Puan Maharani, whose seat is parallel to that of her brother Muhammad Prananda Prabowo and his wife on the right side of the front. Still in the same row of seats with Puan and Prananda, there were seats for Mendikbudristek Nadiem Anwar Makarim and the TNI Commander General Andika Perkasa.

In the cabinet ranks, there were seats on the left side of Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto, Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas Suharso Monoarfa, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Head of BPK RI Isma Yatun and Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono.

While the seats in the second row were seats for Menkumham Yasonna Laoly, Minister of PUPR Basuki Hadimuljono, Minister of Cooperatives and MSMEs Teten Masduki, Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, and Governor of Lemhanas Andi Widjajanto.

In addition, there were a number of seats for elements of the central leadership of the PDI-P, including Ahmad Basarah, Olly Dondokambey, Bambang Wuryanto and Utut Adianto, along with dozens of members of the Indonesian House of Representatives from the PDIP faction. A number of secretary generals of political parties are also planning to attend.

Head of the DPP PDIP Secretariat Yoseph Aryo Adhi Dharmo said the seat that had been given the name had been confirmed to be present.

"The names placed on the chairs have confirmed that they will attend Mas Hasto's doctoral trial," explained Adhi.

He explained that as a doctoral candidate, Hasto's podium during his dissertation presentation was on the left side facing the examiners.

"Based on yesterday's rehearsal, Mas Hasto will give a presentation of about 20 minutes," added Adhi.
