JAKARTA - Experts from the Minister of Environment and Forestry, Afni Zulkifli, said that the proposal for social forest permits from two districts in Riau had received approval from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry.

"Alhamdulillah, working together to pick up the ball (the net is broken) which is the strategy of Minister of Environment and Forestry Siti Nurbaya to accelerate social forest is very effective in the field. The social forest permits in the two districts have in principle been completed," said Afni Zulkifli in Pekanbaru, Monday, June 6, quoted from Antara. .

He said that the process was free of charge and fast as long as all the conditions were complete, as proof of the seriousness of Mrs. Minister Siti Nurbaya to accelerate social forestry in Riau.

He explained that social forests are one of the mainstay programs of the government of President Joko Widodo, to overcome inequality and realize prosperity, such as in terms of access to land management.

"Not for concessions, social forest permits are instead given to farmer groups. Administratively, the Riau social forest proposals that have been approved come from the Meranti Islands and Rokan Hulu regencies," he said.

The acceptance of the proposal in these two regencies, he said again, was actually a step forward after previously being very slow. In fact, there are around 1 million ha for the people of Riau that have been allocated in the Indicative Map of Social Forestry Allocation (PIAPS).

"Hopefully, with the issuance of permits in the two districts, multi-stakeholder facilitators at other prospective social forest locations will be more enthusiastic about assisting community groups. As directed by Mrs. Siti Nurbaya, we must always be with the people and assist the people in getting their rights through social forest permits. the spirit of world environment day this year," said Afni.
