Pontianak Lapas Inspection, Officers Find Mosquito Poison To Drugs Without Prescription

KALBAR - The Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of West Kalimantan (Kanwil Kemenkumham Kalbar) conducted a surprise inspection (sidak) in the residential rooms of inmates at the Class IIA Pontianak Correctional Institution (Lapas).

"We did this inspection to anticipate security and order disturbances in the Pontianak Class IIA Prison," said Head of the Correctional Division of the West Kalimantan Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Ika Yusanti, in Pontianak, quoted from Antara, Friday, June 3.

In this activity, the Head of the Correctional Division of the West Kalimantan Ministry of Law and Human Rights was accompanied by the Head of Security, Plt Kalapas, Acting Head of KPLP, KPLP staff and assisted by members of the guard team on duty to carry out inspections in randomly selected residential rooms in Block H.

"We often carry out inspections like this suddenly, in addition to preventing security disturbances, this activity is also carried out to see the response of the guard officers when carrying out their duties and functions as correctional officers," said Ika.

In addition, Ika continued, inspections at prisons/detention centers are an early detection effort for security disturbances and prevention of illicit drug trafficking in prisons/detention centers in West Kalimantan.

"We do this inspection humanely and in accordance with procedures without violating the rights of the inmates," he said.

From the results of the inspection, officers found items that should not be in the prison/detention center, including iron spoons, electric mosquito repellent, refills for electric mosquito repellent, playing cards and medicines without a doctor's prescription.

"When conducting an inspection, the officers did not find any communication tools or items related to narcotics, and I appeal to the officers to always maintain security and order in prisons," he said.
