IKN Development In East Kalimantan Involves 200 Thousand Field Workers By 2023

JAKARTA - Head of the National Capital Authority (IKN) Bambang Susantono said the IKN development was focused on starting a number of works in the field. In particular, it concerns land development, access to logistics, and the construction of several infrastructure lines.

Bambang conveyed this after meeting President Jokowi at the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java, Friday, June 3. The meeting discussed the development of IKN.

"Hopefully, later in 2023 we will start building on the scales that we have targeted," said Bambang in his statement, Friday, June 3.

He said that there are specificities in the development of IKN, one of which is the involvement of a large number of workers in the field. By 2023, he estimates that IKN construction will involve around 150,000 to 200,000 workers in the field.

"Why so many? Because in the implementation, time is limited and we have to achieve several targets. Of course, the number of workers and later the amount of material will also be quite large," he said, as reported by Antara.

IKN development will continue to be directed to pay attention to environmental conditions, including community interaction. Bambang emphasized that there are several patterns of direct involvement of the local community in IKN development.

"In principle, the conversion is carried out according to the law, so that the problems related to green or green, related to the sustainability of the forests that are there, we can really make it happen properly. A green, smart, inclusive city , and also sustainable in the future," he said.

On that occasion, Babambang also mentioned that President Jokowi asked the IKN Authority to further finalize multi-sector planning in IKN development by involving cross-ministerial coordination so that development targets are well achieved.

"Earlier, the President has given directions so that the implementation and planning can be further matured, especially planning for multi-sectors," he added.

Bambang explained that all ministries and non-ministerial government institutions (K/L) that are members of the transition team have so far been working, consolidating and coordinating, with the hope that the 2024 development targets can be achieved properly.
