BOGOR - Deputy Governor of West Java Uu Ruzhanul Ulum led a magical prayer for the eldest son of West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil, Emmeril Kahn Mumtadz (Eril), at Baitul Faizin Mosque, Cibinong, Bogor Regency, West Java.

Acting Bogor Regent Iwan Setiawan and Chair of the Bogor Regency Indonesian Mosque Council (DMI) Irwan Kurniawan were among the worshipers who before Friday prayers performed an occult prayer for Eril, who on May 26, 2022 was swept away by the current of the Aare River in Switzerland.

Uu said the West Java Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) on Thursday (2/6) delivered a circular containing an appeal to Muslims to perform occult prayers for Eril.

"The MUI said that because there was a signal from the Swiss government through the Indonesian Embassy. In the past, his status (Eril) was a missing person, now his status is a drowning person. It is interpreted that the drowned person has died," said Uu, quoted by Antara, Friday, June 3.

Uu said he communicated with Governor Ridwan Kamil who was on his way back from Switzerland to Indonesia before performing the occult prayer for Eril.

"He also asked for prayers. I as a close person to the Governor carried out the occult as a form of attention, as a form of togetherness, and as a form of a Muslim. Hopefully the best is given by Allah," he said.

While leading the Bogor Anniversary commemoration ceremony at the Cibinong Tegar Faith Square on Friday morning, the Acting Regent of Bogor Iwan Setiawan also invited residents to perform occult prayers for Eril as advised by the West Java MUI.

"We invite all the people of Bogor Regency, together we pray and perform occult prayers," said Iwan.
