Debt Collector Arrested In Cengkareng Turns Out Just Out Of Prison

JAKARTA - The results of an investigation conducted by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Cengkareng Police against two debt collectors who robbed a motorbike belonging to a resident in the Rawa Buaya area, Cengkareng, West Jakarta, contained a number of facts. Starting from the perpetrator, a recidivist, until the perpetrator gave Rp. 100,000 to the victim to take an angkot.

The Head of the Cengkareng Police, Kompol Ardhie Demastyo, explained that one of the suspects with the initials RN, who admitted that he was a debt collector, turned out to be a recidivist in a narcotics case. After being released from prison, RN worked as an eagle eye or a debt collector at the invitation of his friend.

"The perpetrator RN is a recidivist in a drug case. He hasn't been out of prison for a year," said Cengkareng Police Chief Kompol Ardhie Demastyo when confirmed by VOI, Thursday, June 2.

According to RN's confession to the police, he had carried out similar actions for almost a year, 4 times.

"One other suspect, DMD, is thought to have acted 8 times," he added.

From the proceeds of the crime, the perpetrators sell to intermediaries at various prices. The price depends on the type of motorbike that is seized.

"It was sold for Rp. 2.5 million to Rp. 3 million. It was sold to a middleman who we are currently pursuing," he said.

The crime of the two perpetrators began when the victim with the initials STI (23) was about to go to the PIK area. However, while on Jalan Inspeksi Rawa Buaya, the victim was then grabbed by three people who claimed to be from leasing.

After being stopped, the victim was asked for his papers and pretended to be checked. The perpetrators said that the victim's motorbike was in arrears or not being paid for. The perpetrators also took the keys and STNK belonging to the victim.

Police Commissioner Ardhie Demastyo said that the three perpetrators even gave Rp. 100,000 to pay for the victim's fare to take the public transportation to get home. However, the victim screamed for help. Residents who were around the location then helped and chased the perpetrators until they were caught.

For their actions, the two perpetrators were subject to Article 378 Yo 372 of the Criminal Code concerning fraud and embezzlement.
