JAKARTA - British police have arrested two people who broke through security at a military parade and ran in front of soldiers as Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee celebrations began in London Thursday.

Two men dashed out from behind the security barrier, where tens of thousands of people had gathered on The Mall avenue leading to Buckingham Palace, lying down in front of a marching band soon after, footage showed.

One of them was seen holding a banner, while the other wore a gold crown on his head, before the police later arrested the people.

"A number of arrests have been made of people trying to enter the ceremonial lane at The Mall. The arrests were public order related to the blockage of the highway," police said on Twitter.

"Thanks to the crowd who showed their support by applauding our officers, who returned to their posts after handling the incident quickly," the police said.

The colorful 'Trooping the Color' military parade, which takes place every year to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II's official birthday, involves about 1,500 soldiers and officers.

To note, Queen Elizabeth II used to take part in the parade itself on horseback until 1986, five years after the incident a man fired six blank shots at her as she passed.

Queen Elizabeth II then managed to control her horse which was shocked in the process. He was unharmed and the man was caught.
