DENPASAR - The team from the Directorate of Water and Air Police (Dirpolairud) of the Bali Police, arrested two perpetrators who hoarded 11,400 liters of subsidized diesel fuel.
The two perpetrators, Syamsul Muhtadin (44) and Avent Yacob (30) were arrested on Saturday (28/5), while stockpiling diesel fuel in the warehouse of Avent Yacob perpetrators, Jalan Ketapang Muara, Jembrana Regency, Bali.
"This is a case of misuse of subsidized fuel. Evidence of 57 drums per drum is 200 liters, so a total of 11,400 liters of subsidized fuel," he said.
Dirpolairud of the Bali Police, Kombes Soelistijono, in Benoa, South Denpasar, Thursday, June 2.
The disclosure of the hoarding of subsidized diesel started with a resident's report which was then followed up by the police with an investigation at Pengambengan Port, Jembrana.
It is known that the truck fills up fuel with plastic drums at the Fisherman's Fuel Filling Station (SPBN).
After that, the police followed the truck driven by the perpetrator Syamsul. When 'intercepted' the police asked the perpetrators to show a letter of purchase of subsidized diesel, but the perpetrator did not have it.
"Within two weeks they get 45 drums of fuel collection. In terms of profit, if they take diesel fuel of Rp. 5,150 and sell it on a 30 GT boat, the profit is doubled," added Soelistijono.
This subsidized diesel is sold to large vessels even though the allocation should be to small fishing boats.
"The provision for obtaining subsidized diesel requires a request letter from the Fisheries Service (Jembrana) to be used for small fishing boats. Based on the letter, he can buy it from the SPBN," he said.
"But in fact, it is misused not directly given to fishermen but accommodated first. If there are many, they will be sold to bigger ships automatically. It is not a subsidy anymore, so it is taken from profits. He is hoarding," said Soelistijono.
