This Air Hostess Was Praised After Helping Passengers Deliver Delivery In The Air, The Baby Could Not Move And Swallowed Amniotic Water

JAKARTA - Besides being capable and friendly in serving flight passengers, sometimes a flight attendant or flight attendant must also have the skills and calm in dealing with emergency situations, to provide comfort for passengers.

For example, when the plane experiences an unpleasant event, to emergency situations such as patients who have heart attacks and helping pregnant women who give birth during flights.

The last thing that a flight attendant for Frontier airline based in the United States managed to do, earned praise for her calmness in helping the delivery process in the air, saving the baby.

The story begins when Shakeria Martin (27) was traveling at night from Colorado to Florida for three hours. On the way, she had contractions and her water broke before her due date.

Seeing this condition, flight attendant Diana Giraldo rushed to help her give birth in the airplane bathroom. But, of course it's not that easy in the process.

"The biggest worry is when the baby comes out, he doesn't move," Giraldo told reporters on Orlando TV, as reported by Euronews May 26.

"If he's not breathing, he must have something in his airways, which I assume is amniotic fluid. I'm not a doctor, I'm not all that, but I assume that's what happened, it was blocking his airways."

Thinking quickly, Giraldo immediately started doing light chest compressions while rubbing the newborn's back, to help stimulate his lungs.

Not only Giraldo, the crew also helped use oxygen masks on the baby who started to breathe, a few minutes later.

Moved by the flight crew's efforts, Martin also gave a nickname for the baby girl he gave birth to in the air as Jadalyne Sky, as a form of appreciation.

"The entire crew did a really good job. I transferred control and flying duties to my First Officer while I was coordinating the delivery," said Chris Nye, the captain who was flying the plane at the time.

"The operator also did a great job suggesting Pensacola Airport (in Florida) and setting up the gates and paramedics for us. It's a job well done, and I'm happy to see everyone working together to successfully deliver a newborn on the plane!" concluded the captain.

Commenting on the touching moment, social media users called Giraldo a 'hero', due to his quick and competent response. There is also a mention that the baby can get a special 'service' from the airline.

"This baby should always fly free on Frontier," one woman wrote on Facebook. Others suggested that he win a spot to be photographed in the tail of the plane.
