BMKG Detects 20 Hotspots In East Kalimantan

BALIKPAPAN - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) through the Meteorology Station in Balikpapan City, detected 20 hot spots spread across five districts in East Kalimantan Province (Kaltim).

"As many as 20 'hotspots' were detected from today's monitoring results from 13.00 to 17.00 WITA and we immediately conveyed them to their respective districts," said BMKG Meteorological Station Class I forecaster Sultan Aji Muhammad Sulaiman (SAMS) Sepinggan BMKG Balikpapan Iwan Munandar quoted by Antara. The parties who were immediately informed about the existence of the hot spots were especially the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) in each region, so that they could take further action to deal with them.

Previously, five hot spots were detected in East Kalimantan and immediately informed to the local BPBD, so that the hot spots have disappeared, while the 20 hotspots detected today are hotspots at different coordinates.

The five regencies that were detected as hot spots today are West Kutai Regency with 1 point, Kutai Kartanegara 13 points, Berau 4 points, Paser 1 point and East Kutai Regency 1 point.

The hotspots in West Kutai are in the Jempang sub-district which has a medium level of confidence, in East Kutai it is in the Kombeng sub-district with a medium level of confidence, in Paser it is in the Batu Sopang sub-district with a medium level of confidence.

Then the 13 hotspots in Kutai Kartanegara are spread over five sub-districts, namely Loa Janan District there are 7 points, in Loa Kulu, Marang Kayu, Samboja, and Muara Muntai Districts each one point, all of which have a medium level of confidence.

"Furthermore, there are four hotspots in Berau Regency, spread over three sub-districts, namely Gunung Tabur One District, Kelay One, Sambaliung District, there are two hotspots and all of them have a medium level of confidence," said Iwan.
