"The rate of vaccine distribution has started to slow down, maybe because COVID-19 cases have also slowed and many have been vaccinated against the first and second doses, so our vaccine needs have also decreased drastically," said the Director General of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices at the Ministry of Health, Lucia Rizka Andalusia in a meeting. hearing with the House of Representatives Commission IX Committee, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, May 31.

Data from the Ministry of Health shows that in the period from May 1-28, as many as 3,640,342 doses of COVID-19 vaccine were distributed to regions in Indonesia. That number represents a decrease from 16,235,972 doses in April 2022 and 15,374,764 doses in March 2022.

He said there were a total of 47 million doses of vaccine stock at the center and regions until the end of 2022. Meanwhile, the need for vaccines to complete vaccination according to the target is 44.8 million doses of vaccine.

Meanwhile, Plt. Director of Immunization Management at the Ministry of Health, Prima Yosephine, said the rate of injection of the COVID-19 vaccine showed a downward trend with around 217,000 injections per day in the last seven days.

According to him, the decline in the vaccination rate will have implications for the distribution period or shelf life of several COVID-19 vaccines owned by Indonesia.

"There will definitely be vaccines that reach the end of their shelf life so they can't be used. For this reason, we are still working on how we can accelerate the COVID-19 vaccination, especially to fulfill the second and booster doses, especially for people who are at risk. high," he said.
