Steps On Gas Breaks Raids, Cars Containing 54 Protected Animals Are Intercepted By Police

GORONTALO - The Natural Resources Conservation Center (BKSDA) of North Sulawesi, Section II of Gorontalo has secured 54 protected primates, reptiles and mammals in Limboto, Gorontalo Regency, Gorontalo Province.

"If we look at these animals, they don't have documents at all, while to transport them we must have a letter," said the Head of the North Sulawesi BKSDA, Section II Gorontalo, Sjamsudin Hadju in Gorontalo, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, May 31.

He submitted a report indicating that the animal would be brought from Makassar to Manado. However, in the middle of the road, he broke through a raid by the Boalemo Police Traffic Unit in the Boalemo Regency, Gorontalo Province.

The Boalemo Police finally stopped the vehicle containing the animal by blocking the road using a car.

The animals that were recovered from the car included orangutans, gibbons, langurs, gibbons, various types of turtles and monitor lizards that were protected.

Sjamsudin said that neither the driver nor the driver's companion could show the documents for the animals that were brought, so it was indicated that it was illegal.

For this reason, said Sjamsudin, the Boalemo Police are still checking the driver and companion regarding the ownership of the animal.

"We are working with the Boalemo Police and last night I also coordinated with the Chief of Police, Wakapolres, Kasatreskrim and Kasatlantas, we handed over this process to the police," he explained.

He added that the animals would later be handed over to the North Sulawesi KSDA Hall and would cooperate with the Animal Rescue Center in Bitung to be deposited there and receive intensive treatment.
