Sandiaga Asks For Security At Tourist Places To Be Improved, Don't Let The Aare River Incident Repeat

JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno asked the managers of tourist destinations to improve safety standards for tourists. This is related to the disaster that befell the son of the Governor of West Java, Ridwan Kamil on the Aare River, Switzerland.

He said accidents at tourist attractions could happen anywhere, including Switzerland, which is known as a developed country.

"Switzerland is a very developed country in terms of tourism and the creative economy to tourism in rivers, lakes, and so on. However, we can also learn that we must continue to improve CHSE, cleanless, health, and safety certification. Destinations must have a system to identify needs visitors in terms of components and health," said Sandiaga in his statement, Tuesday, May 31.

Sandiaga also expressed his concern over the accident that happened to Ridwan Kamil's son, Emmiril Mumtadz or Eril, who went missing in the Aare River, Switzerland.

"I also invite all Indonesians to continue praying so that Eril can be found safely. At every prayer I send prayers and recite Al-Fatihah for Eril and for Kang Emil, Mrs. Atalia (Ridwan Kamil's wife), and family," said Sandiaga.

As a form of sympathy as a close friend and also a fellow father, Sandi said he would temporarily turn off activities on his personal social media.

So that all information regarding tourism activities will only be conveyed officially through the Kemenparekraf social media account.

"I decided to switch off Sandi Uno's social media for some time in the future so that Kang Emil will be given peace, we pray, knock on heaven's door so that the best for the family of the Governor of West Java, who we love so much," he said.

Regarding the safety advisory, Sandiaga plans to start inspections of tourism facilities to ensure the CHSE standards have been complied with by destination managers.

Sandi emphasized that ensuring the level of cleanliness, safety, and comfort in tourist attractions for visitors is a shared responsibility for tourism managers, local governments, tourism offices, including the central government.

"We will try (to inspect) one of the artificial tourist destinations. But we also have natural destinations whose safety aspects must be considered," he said.
