Ridwan Kamil's eldest son was in Switzerland looking for a university to continue his master's education. He was accompanied by Atalia. But at the time of the incident Atalia did not swim with Eril.
At that time Eril was swimming with his brother and a friend who had lived in Switzerland for a long time. While Eril and the other two were swimming, there were also other tourists.
"Eril shouted 'help', so the families on the other side immediately ran to look for it. Now, residents who were on the riverbank heard calling for help," said Elpi Nazmuzaman, Ridwan Kamil's younger brother, in an online press conference on Saturday, May 28.
Indonesian Ambassador to Switzerland Muliaman Hadad added that the Aare River is a popular tourist attraction in Switzerland. However, the river also claimed several lives.
"Similar incidents occur between 15-20 cases every year," Muliaman said on the same occasion.
The search for the SAR team is currently ongoing, involving the police, maritime police, and the local fire brigade. Officers combed the spots to find the whereabouts of Eril who was missing in the Aare River.
