MADIUN - The City Government (Pemkot) of Madiun, East Java has budgeted Rp1.7 billion in 2022 to procure free uniforms for state elementary and junior high school students.
"The provision of free school uniforms is again carried out to support the education program in Madiun City. A total of Rp1.7 billion will be provided this year," said Head of the Madiun City Education Office, Lismawati, as quoted by Antara, Monday, May 30.
Like last year, the free uniforms are in the form of two sets of cloth. Intended for grade I public elementary school and seventh grade public junior high school students.
Each student gets two sets of uniforms and their attributes. For elementary school, they get red-and-white uniforms and Scouts. Meanwhile, SMP received white-blue uniforms and Scouts.
In addition to uniforms, the Madiun City Government also provides assistance with sewing costs, namely, Rp. 300 thousand per child for junior high school and Rp. 260 thousand per child for elementary school, each of which is tax deductible.
"Currently, the procurement is still in process. God willing, it can be done well," said Lismawati.
The procurement mechanism will be carried out by first buying a sample of uniform fabric. After that, laboratory tests are carried out in Bandung or Yogyakarta to see the feasibility and specifications of the fabric. After that, the auction will be held.
Fabrics from third parties are also laboratory tested first. To match the example previously proposed by the municipal government. If both are appropriate, then mass procurement can be carried out.
Lismawati said the need for uniforms this year is not much different from last year. For SDN as many as 2,646 students and SMPN 2,787 students.
"Uniforms are given to new students in grades I SD and VII SMP," said Lismawati.
