BANDA ACEH - A team from the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation at the Aceh Police arrested five suspected shooters that left two people dead in Aceh Besar District.
The Head of Public Relations of the Aceh Police, Kombes Winardy, said the five alleged perpetrators were arrested separately in several places in Aceh Besar District on Thursday (26/5).
"The five perpetrators had their respective roles in the shooting that caused two people to die on Thursday (12/5) night. Both victims died during medical treatment at the hospital," said Kombes Winardy, quoted by Antara, Monday, May 30.
The five suspected perpetrators of the shooting, with the initials TM, acted as logistical planners and suppliers. DW acts as an information provider and logistics supplier.
Meanwhile, MZ, ZD, and MY acted as companions for executors and field monitors. The five alleged perpetrators are residents of Aceh Besar District.
In addition to the five people, said Kombes Winardy, the police are still hunting for a number of other people suspected of being the executor and mastermind of the shooting. Their names and identities have been pocketed.
"The temporary motive is because the perpetrators took revenge against the victim. The arrests of the alleged perpetrators were after investigators conducted a marathon examination of 23 witnesses and conducted investigations at the crime scene," said Kombes Winardy.
From the investigation of the crime scene, said Kombes Winardy, investigators secured a number of evidences, including bullet casings with a 5.56 millimeter caliber sebo or face coverings, motorcycles, and others.
"The type of weapon used is still being investigated. The cartridges were sent to the forensic laboratory to confirm the weapon used. From its size, the 5.56-millimeter caliber is a long-barreled firearm," said Kombes Winardy.
The Aceh Regional Police middle officer said the perpetrators were charged with Article 338 in conjunction with Article 340 of the Criminal Code regarding murder and premeditated murder. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and the death penalty.
"We urge the public not to speculate regarding the shooting. From the results of the investigation, the shooting is not related to any particular group, it is purely a criminal act of vengeance between the perpetrator and the victim," said Kombes Winardy.
Previously, two Aceh Besar residents, the initials M and R, were shot by unknown persons when they returned from their garden in Aneuk Glee Village, Indrapuri District, Aceh Besar District, Thursday (12/5) night.
