JAKARTA - The General Elections Commission (KPU) presented details of the budget for the 2024 General Election that had been agreed upon. Its value reached Rp76,656,312,294,000 (Rp76.6 trillion). This budget is used for all stages, from 2022 to 2024.

KPU chairman Hasyim Asy'ari explained that the political contestation budget in 2024 was divided into stages of RP63.4 trillion or 82.71 percent of the total budget. Meanwhile, the rest is for stage support of Rp. 13.2 trillion or 17.29 percent of the total budget.

"For the staged activities of IDR 63.4 trillion, starting from the election stage, ad hoc fees, logistics, and voter education socialization," said Hasyim at the KPU office, Monday, May 30.

Hasyim said that the largest budget allocation was used for honorariums for ad hoc bodies or election officials, including the budget for their formation and operations, who worked during the implementation stage.

The honorarium for this ad hoc body is included in the voting and counting budget group during the election stage.

"For the activities of the election stage which amounted to Rp. 63 trillion, the honorarium for the ad hoc agency, the formation of the ad hoc body, and the operational work of the ad hoc agency was around Rp. 34.4 trillion or around 44.93 percent. Indeed, of the total budget, this is the most. It will be used for agencies Adhoc numbers are 8,578,564 people," explained Hasyim. Meanwhile, the second largest budget allocation is for election logistics needs worth Rp. 16 trillion or about 20.09 percent of the total budget. Then, the KPU also allocated a budget of Rp. 14.4 trillion or 18.89 percent for voting activities for the second round of the presidential election.

In addition, there is also a budget for the procurement of personal protective equipment (PPE) of Rp. 4.6 trillion. Hasyim said that this budget was not included in the election or electoral budget managed by the KPU and handed over to the government.

He said that the procurement of PPE was carried out because the election was held during the COVID-19 pandemic situation.

"We have reported to the President about the PPE budget. As much as possible the KPU only manages the electoral aspects. Now, like this PPE, as much as possible later the responsibility will be from the government with authority, such as the Ministry of Health," he said.
