JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) involves Miss Indonesia 2022, Laksmi Shari De Neefe Suardana to promote Indonesia's G20 Presidency and various programs up to the G20 Summit in Bali in November.

According to the Advisory Council of the Puteri Indonesia Putri Foundation, Kus Wisnu Wardani, Jokowi made this request when receiving Laksmi Shari with Miss Universe 2021 from India, Harnaaz Shandu and two other winners of the Miss Indonesia election at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, Monday 30 May.

"The President said earlier that for all G20 programs, especially at its peak, Puteri Indonesia will be involved, both the three selected princesses as well as other finalists in their respective provinces," said Putri in a press statement after the meeting which was broadcast live on the Indonesian Channel. Apart from Puteri Indonesia 2022 Laksmi Shari and Miss Universe 2021 Harnaaz Shandu, Putri also accompanied the two runners-up for Puteri Indonesia 2022, namely Puteri Indonesia 1 runner-up Cindy May MC Guire and 2nd runner-up Adinda Creshella.

Laksmi and the finalists of the beauty contest were trusted by President Jokowi to represent Indonesia in promoting several topics of the Indonesian G20 Presidency such as climate change, digitalization, and the rise of tourism.

"Puteri Indonesia 2022 Laksmi is indeed studying literacy and digitalization," said Putri, who is also a member of the Presidential Advisory Council.

Meanwhile, Cindy, who works as a doctor, is trusted by the Head of State to promote Indonesia's efforts to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic as well as a number of public health programs including stunting.

Meanwhile, Adinda, who is also the Miss Indonesia Tourism 2022, is trusted to promote the environment and tourism.

Miss Universe 2021 Harnaaz Shandu also admitted that he had had a direct conversation with President Jokowi and said he was happy to know the good relationship between the Indonesian Head of State and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"I am very honored to meet President Jokowi and hear firsthand the vision he has for this beautiful country of Indonesia. I am very pleased to know his close relationship with our Prime Minister Modi, and happy to be in this beautiful country and to know more I hope can come back here again soon," he said.

Accompanying President Jokowi in receiving the visit of the winners of the Miss Indonesia 2022 and Miss Universe 2021 contests were Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno.
