Prevent Fires, Palangka Raya Firefighters Suggest Residents Have APAR

JAKARTA - The Palangka Raya City Fire Department, Central Kalimantan asked residents to increase their awareness of the potential threat of fire in densely populated areas.

"The occurrence of fires in residential areas is still rife. The cause is strongly suspected of having an electrical short circuit. For that, let's anticipate by ensuring that the electricity network is up to standard," said Head of the Palangka Raya City Fire and Rescue Department, Gloriana Aden, Saturday, May 28, quoted from Between.

He made the statement when he was confirmed regarding the fire on Friday, May 27, which scorched a number of buildings belonging to residents in a densely populated area, in Gang Bunga, the local city. The total loss reached Rp. 75 million.

The initial conclusion was that the fire was triggered by an electrical connection in one of the residents' houses. However, the exact cause of the fire is still under investigation.

In that incident, a number of buildings made of wood were devoured by "the red rooster". The firefighters had some difficulty putting out the fire because the fire quickly spread to other nearby buildings. Luckily, the incident which occurred at around 14.30 WIB did not cause any casualties.

"For this reason, vigilance and anticipatory efforts are effective steps to minimize the potential for fires. Ensuring electrical installations meet standards and checking connections regularly are mandatory," he said.

In addition, anticipatory efforts can also be made by ensuring that objects that can trigger fires are kept away from fire. Then, providing a Light Fire Extinguisher (APAR) at home, can also be an initial way to prevent a fire from spreading when a fire occurs.

In addition, the 122 'emergency call' service is also the first integrated service carried out by the fire department in the Central Kalimantan Province.

Among these services are complaints about life-threatening events such as fires, security disturbances, natural disasters, accidents, domestic violence, as well as suicidal tendencies and so on.
