JAKARTA - Chairman of the Executive Board of the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) dr Moh. Adib Khumaidi expressed his hope that IDI member doctors would jointly assist the government in realizing a national health strategy as part of the restoration of world health.

He conveyed this after attending the 75th annual World Health Assembly (WHA) meeting organized by the World Health Organization (WHO) in Geneva, Switzerland as part of the Indonesian delegation with the Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin.

In a written statement quoted by Antara, Saturday, May 28, Adib said that by being involved in the 75th WHA, IDI could exchange views on strategies to improve health services and systems with other delegates.

He hopes that Indonesian doctors who are members of IDI will also jointly help the government realize the National Health Strategy as part of the restoration of world health and global health initiatives for peace.

In addition to attending the WHA session with other Indonesian leaders and delegates in the meeting during 22-28 May 2022, the General Chair of PB IDI also took time with Indonesian diaspora working in the health sector.

"IDI is very proud and of course hopes that diaspora friends can contribute to the development of health development in Indonesia, especially in the development of human resources for doctors in Indonesia, and hopes to help increase international relations knowledge and open international health networks," said Adib.

In the 75th WHA session itself, the delegates including those from Indonesia agreed on a number of strategic agreements.

Some of these include adopting an updated WHO global strategy for food safety to strengthen national food safety systems.

Next, an action plan to effectively implement a global strategy to reduce harmful alcohol use and adopt a Working for Health Action Plan that sets out policy priorities to rapidly increase workforce capacity.

Other agreements approved include global strategy essential for oral health, new recommendations for prevention and management of obesity, improving the lives of people with neurological disorders through a new global action plan.
