SURABAYA - Mayor of Surabaya Eri Cahyadi is ready to mobilize assemblies for taklim and recitation of the Quran or reciting the Koran together in every sub-district after the peak of the 729th Anniversary of the City of Surabaya on May 31.

"I miss the congregation of the taklim assembly. God willing, the joint Koran will be held once a month in the sub-district every Thursday," said Mayor Eri Cahyadi, quoted by Antara, Saturday, May 28.

Eri admitted that he wanted to move the taklim and recitation of the Quran assemblies after seeing the solidarity of the women of the Surabaya Taklim Foundation (Yamatas) Surabaya congregation when attending the halalbihalal event, the Salawat Tausiah Parade, prayers and remembrance and the launch of the Sumber Mulia Barokah Cooperative at the Cultural Center building, Friday ( 27/5) night.

Because of that, Eri Cahyadi thanked all Yamatas members because within this year they were aggressively moving the taklim assemblies and the economy in the City of Heroes.

Especially at this time of economic recovery, continued Eri, togetherness and mutual cooperation are needed among residents and other community groups.

The chairman of Yamatas Surabaya, Elok Zulaikho, previously said that his party hopes that in the future Yamatas will be more solid and can attract more women to promote the taklim and economic assembly in the city of Surabaya.

"Before it was inaugurated by the Mayor, Eri Cahyadi, there were 587 members. Thank God, after being inaugurated a year ago, now there are more members," said Elok.

Elok invites its members to move together to build the city of Heroes in the future. Not only that, he also provided opportunities for Muslim women in Surabaya to join Yamatas.

He said, in the Sumber Mulia Barokah Cooperative there are several Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), ranging from catering, recitation and school uniforms to mineral water production. With this cooperative, he is optimistic that families in the city of Surabaya will be more prosperous.

"Hopefully in the future we will not only be smart in the Koran, but also smart in managing the economy," he said.
