Shouts 'Mbak Puan President' Appears At The PDIP Coffee Festival, Hasto: Just Euphoria

JAKARTA - PDI-P Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto responded to the shouts of 'Mbak Puan president' on the sidelines of the opening of the Indonesian Coffee Festival. According to Hasto, the shouts were just euphoria from the cadres present.

"Yes, after drinking coffee, euphoria appears. I also shouted that I was singing a sweet and affectionate song. That's because of the influence of coffee," Hasto told reporters in the Gelora Bung Karno area, Senayan, Central Jakarta, Friday, May 27.

Even so, Hasto reiterated that all decisions related to the party's strategy going forward, including the nomination for the 2024 Presidential Election are the prerogative of PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri.

"As I explained earlier, strategic decisions related to leadership that are so important for the future of the nation and state are in the hands of the general chairman," he stressed.

He also said that the party bearing the symbol of the bull is serious about preparing leadership regeneration ahead of the 2024 General Election. Moreover, Megawati is paying attention to Indonesia's future.

"We are serious in preparing all leadership cadres," said Hasto.

"How the Indonesian leadership can push Indonesia to be more advanced than other nations. That's what Megawati always thinks," he said.

Previously, the chairman of the PDIP DPP who is also the chairman of the DPR, Puan Maharani, received the cheers of 'Mbak Puan president'. This was shouted on the sidelines of the Indonesian Coffee Festival held by PDIP at East Parking, Senayan, Friday, May 27.

Initially, Puan was here to open the Indonesian Coffee Festival. After opening the event Puan together with the Secretary General of PDIP Hasto Kristiyanto, Minister of SMEs Teten Masduki, and Deputy Minister of Agriculture Harvick Hasnul Qolbi joined in concocting and tasting coffee.

On the sidelines of the coffee tasting moment, there were shouts of 'Mbak Puan president' several times. But the screams were ignored by Puan.

Puan seemed relaxed talking with the Secretary General of PDIP Hasto Kristiyanto, Minister of SMEs Teten Masduki.

Furthermore, after the coffee tasting event was over, Puan went on stage with a number of figures including member of the Indonesian House of Representatives Krisdayanti. She sang several songs, one of which was Dewi, which was popularized by the Dewa 19 music group.

The shouts of 'Mbak Puan president' echoed again. It is not clear whether he heard or not, but the chairman of the PDIP DPP continued to sing on stage with Krisdayanti and Hasto Kristiyanto before finally leaving the venue.
