PURWAKARTA - The government of Purwakarta Regency, West Java immediately reopened the Sri Baduga "dancing" Fountain Park as an effort to restore the community's economy and revive tourist destinations in the area.

"Today we are checking the facilities and infrastructure of the Sri Baduga Fountain Park, because it will be operated again, to attract tourist visits," said Purwakarta Regent Anne Ratna Mustika as reported by Antara, Friday, May 27.

Checks are carried out to ensure all facilities in the tourist area can function.

"This activity is a series of preparations for the anniversary of Purwakarta. We still haven't implemented tickets for residents going to Sri Baduga Fountain Park. So it's still free," said the regent.

According to him, with the re-operation of the Sri Baduga Fountain Park, it is hoped that it will attract tourists to visit Purwakarta. So that it can encourage the improvement and growth of local business actors.

Meanwhile, before becoming the Sri Baduga Fountain Park, the park was a fairly large round lake called Situ Buleud.

The origin of Situ Buleud is related to the event of moving the capital city of Karawang Regency from Wanayasa to Sindangkasih, precisely in line with the infrastructure development of Purwakarta City at an early stage.

Situ Buleud was built on the idea of Regent RA Suriawinata who ruled between 1830 and mid-1831. Situ Buleud was built with two purposes and uses, as a source of water for the benefit of the government and the people of Purwakarta.

Several years ago, Situ Buleud has changed its name to Sri Baduga Fountain Park which is the largest fountain in Southeast Asia. This park is a leading tourist destination in Purwakarta which is famous for its unique architecture and fountains that dance to the rhythm of music. (KR-MAK)\
