JAKARTA - The Indonesian Embassy in Bern continues to search for Emmeril Khan Mumtadz, the first son of the Governor of West Java Ridwan Kamil, who went missing while swimming in the Swiss Aare River, on Thursday 26 May.

"The Indonesian Embassy in Bern has coordinated with the local police for the search process," said the Director of Protection for Indonesian Citizens and BHI at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Judha Nugraha, via text message, Friday, May 27, quoted from Antara.

Search efforts were launched immediately after Thursday's incident along the Aaree River in Bern. The search will start this morning local time.

“The search process was suspended last night and will restart this morning Bern time. We pray that Brother Eril will be found safe soon,” said Judha, referring to Emeril's nickname.

Ridwan Kamil and his family are in Switzerland looking for a school for Eril who will continue his education to the Masters level.

At the time of the incident, Ridwan Kamil was in England on government activities abroad with a delegation from the West Java Provincial Government.

On the afternoon of May 26, 2022, Eril swam in the Aaree River, Bern with her sister and friends. The weather conditions were sunny. When trying to rise to the surface, Eril was dragged by a fairly swift current of the river even though he was assisted by his friends.

Ridwan Kamil immediately followed to Switzerland after receiving the news of the accident and is currently with his family.
