BANDA ACEH - Police personnel from the Pidie Jaya Resort Police, Aceh, foiled an alleged smuggling of 2,800 liters of subsidized diesel fuel.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Pidie Jaya Police, Iptu Dedy Miswar, said the case was revealed after the police arrested a pickup truck carrying subsidized diesel illegally.

"In this disclosure, the officers arrested two perpetrators. They transported subsidized diesel without a permit. The subsidized fuel is suspected to be for resale," he said, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, May 25.

The two perpetrators are ZA (37) and AS (34). Both are residents of Mutiara Timur, Pidie Regency, Aceh Province.

Iptu Dedy Miswar said the case was revealed when Resmob personnel and the Pidie Police Criminal Investigation Unit Tipidter stopped a pickup truck carrying drums at Gampong Mesjid, Panteraja District, Pidie Jaya, Wednesday (25/5) at around 00.30 WIB.

From the results of the examination, the police found 14 drums measuring 220 liters containing 2,800 liters of diesel fuel and a pump engine along with a hose that was allegedly used to suck up the oil.

"When they were arrested, they could not show a permit. Now the perpetrator and the evidence are being held at the Pidie Jaya Police Headquarters for further investigation," he said.

The two perpetrators violated Article 55 of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 11 of 2020 concerning Job Creation in conjunction with Article 55 of the Criminal Code with the threat of 6 years in prison.
