Ahead Of The Mass Of The Ascension Of Jesus Christ, Sukoharjo Police Bring Metal Detectors To Sterilize 10 Churches From Dangerous Objects

SUKOHARJO - Sukoharjo Police in Central Java, sterilized 10 churches using metal detectors to ensure security ahead of the Mass and the Ascension of Jesus Christ.

A number of officers carrying metal detectors and flashlights entered the Java Christian Church (GKJ) Baki Sukoharjo District, combing from inside the church to the courtyard before the congregation of the Ascension of Jesus Christ.

According to the Head of Operational Bin (KBO) of the Sukoharjo Police Samapta Unit, Police Inspector Satu Haris Mutakin, sterilization is to ensure that there are no suspicious and dangerous objects.

"Both outside and inside the churches," he explained in Sukoharjo, as reported by Antara, Wednesday, May 25.

Meanwhile, Sukoharjo Police Chief, AKBP Wahyu N Setyawan said, sterilization ahead of Mass and the Ascension of Jesus Christ service to ensure safety and comfort for the church congregation.

"There are 10 churches that have been sterilized. These churches have congregations of more than 100 people. We will deploy around 240 personnel during the commemoration of the Ascension of Jesus Christ," he said.

He said that the police are ready to provide security services during the commemoration of the Ascension of Jesus Christ for Christians in Sukoharjo Regency, and there are police officers on guard at every church.

"The security process at each church will be carried out openly or closed. We will also synergize with the TNI and local governments," he said.

Meanwhile, Heriyanto as one of the administrators at GKJ, Baki Sukoharjo District, expressed his gratitude to the Sukoharjo Police.

"We thank the National Police for carrying out church sterilization ahead of the commemoration of the Ascension of Jesus Christ. Hopefully the activities will run safely and smoothly," he said.
