SIDOARJO - The Sidoarjo Regency Government of East Java has budgeted Rp92.8 billion for the construction of new public street lighting (PJU) and maintenance of the damaged ones in 2022.

Sidoarjo Regent Ahmad Muhdlor said the number of new PJU additions this year was 847 points which would be built in several sub-districts.

"These include Krian, Porong, Taman, Krembung and other sub-districts," he said, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, May 24.

He said most of the new PJUs built this year were located in the area around Krian as many as 215 points.

"Then there are 207 points in Porong Sub-district, 205 points in Sidoarjo, 210 points in Taman and the TMMD program in Rejeni Village, Krembung District, with 10 points," said Gus Muhdlor as he is familiarly called.

He said maintenance work for old PJUs, such as replacing lamps and repairing PJU poles, as well as repairing installation cables, continued to be accelerated.

The Regent ensured that the addition of hundreds of new PJUs could be completed this year, including the maintenance of thousands of old PJUs.

"The implementation in the field is directly under my supervision. We prioritize PJU handling because it concerns the safety of the residents," he said.

The Head of the Public Street Lighting Division of the Sidoarjo Transportation Service, Arie Prabowo, said that the construction phase of the new PJU is already in the contract process with a planning consultant and will soon enter the auction stage.
