DKI Targets ITF In West, East, And South To Start Construction By Mid 2023

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has set a target for the construction of Intermediate Treatment Facility (ITF) waste in three locations starting in mid-2023. The three locations are in the west, east, and south.

"We hope that in mid-2023, construction can start immediately," said Head of the DKI Jakarta Environmental Agency, Asep Kuswanto, to reporters, Tuesday, June 24.

In this project, the ITF in the eastern and southern regions is carried out by Perumda Pembangunan Sarana Jaya. Meanwhile, the ITF in the western region is being worked on by the BUMD PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro). In addition, Jakpro is also working on the Sunter ITF, which is planned to be built this year.

Asep said that currently the plan to develop waste processing between the west, east and south has collaborated with contractors, ranging from local companies, companies from China, to Europe.

Until next July, the DKI Provincial Government is still compiling a feasibility study for the western, eastern, and southern ITF. Asep hopes that the ITF in these three areas will start to enter into a cooperation agreement (PKS) in October.

"We hope that this PKS can be completed in October. After the PKS is completed, maybe the process for funding or financial costs, we will give it a maximum of 6 months. Then hopefully in the middle of 2023 it can be constructed," explained Asep.

Meanwhile, regarding the development plan in the northern region, namely ITF Sunter, the DKI Provincial Government has received pressure from the DPRD so that construction can begin before the term of office of DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan ends in October.

Historically, Anies has conducted the groundbreaking of the Sunter ITF since 2018, but until now the construction has not been carried out due to funding constraints from investors leaving.

Therefore, according to the recommendation of the DPRD, the construction of the Sunter ITF is planned to use funds from the APBD through regional capital participation (PMD) to Jakpro.

In response to this, Asep said he was happy. This is because the DKI Provincial Government no longer needs to find it difficult to find funding from investors or other loans. As is known, DKI had planned to borrow the national economic recovery fund (PEN) from the central government through the state-owned company PT SMI, but this request was rejected by the DPRD.

"We are very happy if there will be APBD support for the construction of the Sunter ITF. So, at least we can confirm when the ITF can be built. If the funding is with the APBD and we can maintain it for the next three years, the allocation of funds will not be hampered, hopefully ITF Sunter woke up," said Asep.
