Health Office Reveals Booster Vaccination Achievements In South Kalimantan Are Low, Still Below 20 Percent

KALSEL - Head of the South Kalimantan Provincial Health Office (Kalsel) Diauddin revealed that the achievement of the third dose or booster vaccination in his area was still below 20 percent of the target.

"Regencies/cities must be active again to make this booster vaccination program a success, because this is a booster vaccination," he said.

For example in Banjarmasin, he said, as of Tuesday, May 24, only 16 percent of the booster vaccination had been realized or around 490.000 of the target of 3 million people.

Diauddin hopes that the booster vaccination achievement because the COVID-19 pandemic has not ended, it can run quickly as the first and second doses of vaccination. Where the achievement of the first dose of vaccination has been realized by 93.53 percent or as many as 2.9 million people, while the achievement of the second dose of vaccination is 74 percent or 2.3 million people. "This is important to continue to expand herd immunity to deal with COVID-19 whose cases have not yet subsided in this province," he said.

Although on Monday, May 23, he said, there were no positive additions to COVID-19 in South Kalimantan, but 15 patients were still being treated.

There were 84.269 cases of COVID-19 in South Kalimantan during this pandemic, of which 2.536 people died.

Meanwhile, on Monday, the South Kalimantan Health Office reported that 3 COVID-19 patients had recovered, namely, 2 people from Banjarbaru and 1 person from Balangan. The total number of recoveries from COVID-19 in South Kalimantan has reached 81.746 people.

Because all regencies/cities in this province are still in the status of Enforcement of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM), Diauddin asked all to remain disciplined in health protocols.
