KPK Will Study Reports Of Alleged Corruption At PT Merpati Airlines

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will study reports of alleged internal corruption at PT Merpati Airlines. Verification and review will be carried out by the anti-corruption commission.

"We will follow up on every report from the public. Of course, by first verifying and reviewing the data of this report," said Acting KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement Sector Ali Fikri in a written statement quoted on Tuesday, May 24.

Ali said that verification and review of this report was mandatory. The goal is to ensure the next steps that will be taken by the KPK.

"KPK will also proactively track and collect various additional information and information to complete the reported complaints," he said.

Not only that, this process is needed to deepen the authority of the anti-corruption commission in investigating allegations of reported corruption. "If the complaint becomes the authority of the KPK, it will certainly be followed up in accordance with applicable legal provisions," said Ali.

Furthermore, the KPK appreciates the submission of reports that have been carried out by the public. Ali said, complaints like this are a form of collaboration in efforts to eradicate corruption.

"Public complaints are one of the nodes of the KPK's collaboration with the public in efforts to eradicate corruption," he said.

"For this reason, the KPK appreciates those who continue to persistently take a role in efforts to eradicate corruption," Ali added.

The advocacy team for the association of former pilots of PT Merpati Nusantara Airlines visited the KPK Building, Jakarta, Monday to report allegations of corruption in the management of PT Merpati Nusantara Airlines.

"We report to the president director of PT Merpati Nusantara Airlines and the directors of the PT Merpati Nusantara Airlines pension fund," said Lamsihar Rumahorbo as attorney for the advocacy team of the former pilots of PT Merpati Nusantara Airlines.

The report, he said, was also based on data from the Commission VI working committee of the DPR RI.

"Why are we reporting? Based on data from the working committee of Commission VI DPR RI, there are documents that we do have that conclude that there are allegations of corruption, collusion and nepotism that allegedly occurred in the management of PT Merpati Nusantara Airlines," he said.

In the report, there is a number of evidence brought. Among them, the results of the working meeting of Commission VI DPR RI, a statement letter for the P5 program (offering a package for solving employee problems), and the homologation decision by the Surabaya Commercial Court.

"The evidence will be our basis for the irregularities that the alleged corruption has committed," explained Lamsihar.
