JAKARTA - The body of the former spokesperson for the handling of COVID-19, Dr Achmad Yurianto, was buried right next to the tomb of Rr Mientarti's mother at the Dadaprejo Public Cemetery (TPU), Batu City, East Java, Sunday 22 May.

The funeral procession begins with a military release ceremony from the family to the state carried out by the Indonesian National Army (TNI) Army.

The body was then dispatched to the Dadaprejo TPU from the funeral home in Batu City, Malang, East Java, at around 10.00 WIB.

The location of the Dadaprejo TPU from the funeral home is only approximately 200 meters.

Escorted by a number of TNI AD soldiers from Yonkes 2, Achmad Yurianto's body arrived at the Dadaprejo TPU at around 10:05 WIB.

The deceased's younger brother, Edy Suhartono, said that Achmad Yurianto during his life was a role model in the family.

"He is a person who never reneges on his duties and always tries to complete tasks under any circumstances," he said.

In the funeral procession which was carried out with a military ceremony, the Spokesperson for Handling COVID-19 Wiku Adisasmito and the Head of BPJS Kesehatan Malang, Dr. Dina Diana Permata, were present.

The late Achmad Yurianto was a retired TNI soldier with the last rank of Colonel CKM. He started his career in 1987 as a military doctor and became the Chief Health Officer of the Military Region V Brawijaya.

In 2008, the deceased was trusted to serve as Deputy Head of the Tier II Hospital Dustira Cimahi, West Java and became Deputy Head of Regional Military Health IV Diponegoro, Semarang until 2011.

The deceased died on Saturday (21/5) at around 18:58 WIB after undergoing treatment at the Saiful Anwar Regional General Hospital (RSUD) Malang City for three days.

Before undergoing treatment at the Saiful Anwar Hospital, Malang City, the deceased was treated at the Central Army Hospital (RSPAD) Jakarta for colon cancer.
