The First Day Of Car Free Day Held, Visitors At The HI Roundabout Are Crowded Not Wearing Masks

JAKARTA – The first day of the Motor Vehicle Free Day (HBKB) or "Car Free Day" (CFD) residents looked very enthusiastic. Jakarta Transportation Agency officer Agus Suherman said it was not surprising if it was crowded, because this activity was reopened after two years of delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Agus said that Motor Vehicle Free Day was a new experience again after President Joko Widodo relaxed policies related to the rules for wearing masks by allowing residents to remove masks in open spaces.

"It is said that Jokowi does not congregate. You can take off your mask in an open space but don't congregate," Agus said, quoting Antara, Sunday, May 22.

Regarding the diversion of the flow of vehicles, Agus said there was no traffic jam because the officers had prepared six locations for the Motor Vehicle Free Day in Jakarta.

"In fact, the people are all egotistical to Thamrin-Sudirman," he said.

Previously, the Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo, said that his party had reinstated a car free day on a number of roads this Sunday at 06.00-10.00 WIB.

"The limited HBKB can only be done for sports activities," said Syafrin.

Syafrin ensured that CFD did not contain the activities of other participants and street vendors that could potentially create a crowd.

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has prepared six CFD locations, namely Jalan Jenderal Sudirman-Jalan MH Thamrin, Jalan Sisingamangaraja, Jalan Tomang Raya, Jalan Danau Sunter Selatan, Jalan Suryopranoto, and Jalan Pemuda.
