JAKARTA - Member of the Gerindra faction of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Thopaz Nuhgraha Syamsul, assesses that the desire to watch the Jakarta Formula E electric car race live or from home is actually returned to each individual.

That's because, it is possible that people who watch from television still support the success of the program from home.

There are also those who bought tickets to watch live at the Formula E Jakarta International E-Prix Circuit (JIEC) Ancol because they have a desire to support and participate in driving the economy in the capital city.

"Which aims are also to move and improve the wheels of the economy in Jakarta, revive MSMEs in Jakarta, introduce Jakarta to the international community, as well as many other positive impacts that will be felt by Jakarta residents," said Thopaz in his written statement, Saturday 21 May.

Likewise, the fact, he continued, that currently more Formula E tickets are purchased by foreign viewers, is not a problem.

"The point is that both tickets were sold out and that's the end goal of the tickets being sold out. So, it doesn't really matter who bought the tickets," said Thopaz.

Thopaz, who is also the deputy chairman of the Gerindra Party DPD, assessed that the international car racing tournament had met its goal of bringing tourists, both international and local, to Jakarta.

Thopas also admitted that he was interested in watching the Jakarta Formula E electric car race live on June 4.

Previously, the chairman of the PDIP faction of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Gembong Warsono, admitted that he preferred to watch the Formula E Jakarta event through television or TV broadcasts. According to him, the course of the race is more clearly seen on television.

"I only watch on television, watching on television is much more detailed because there are also many camera spots. That's it, you can drink coffee at home," said Gembong on Friday, May 20, 2022.

Gembong said that his party is not anti-Formula E tournament which is claimed to bring in foreign and domestic tourists. And can boost the economy of Jakarta, especially SMEs.

However, what has been criticized so far has always been the management of budget allocations from the APBD for Formula E. "So please hold it, carry it out please, even my hope is success. But don't just pursue success and ignore regional financial management," he concluded.
