JAKARTA - Two Indonesian citizens were arrested by the COVID-19 task force in Beijing, so they had to live in an independent quarantine center in the Chinese capital.

Gandhi Priambodo, 47, and his wife, who lives in Shunyi District, have had to undergo a 10-day quarantine since Friday, May 13.

"Suddenly I was called and an ambulance was picked up to be taken to this quarantine center," he said, quoted from Antara, Saturday, May 21.

The police officer informed that a neighbor of his apartment was a close contact of a positive COVID-19 patient who had just returned from Beijing.

"This guest who visited the neighbor's apartment tested positive after returning to his area. In fact, I did not meet the guest, nor the neighbor," he said.

Suddenly, he and his wife and dozens of other residents who live on the same floor in his apartment were picked up by officers and then taken to the self-quarantine center by ambulance and a 20-minute journey from his apartment.

The apartment complex is sealed so that no one is allowed to enter, while the residents of the apartment are prohibited from leaving and are required to undergo a daily PCR test by mouth.

"After returning from the quarantine center, we are still required to self-quarantine for four more days at home," said Gandhi, who is a businessman.

He said he was satisfied with the free services provided while in the quarantine center in the form of three halal meals, Wifi network, television, and other facilities similar to a five-star hotel on the outskirts of Beijing.

Every two days he and the residents of the quarantine center are required to do a PCR test through the nose and daily report the development of body temperature.

China's health authorities are still implementing a dynamic zero COVID-19 policy, so that once there are more than three cases in one day, a lockdown and mass PCR testing are applied.

Most recently, five college campuses in the Fangshan District, Beijing, were put under lockdown since Thursday 19 May after 11 students were found to be positive for COVID-19.
