Discussing Human Rights Cases With Trisakti Students, Moeldoko Is Considered An Example Of Bung Karno's Mandate

JAKARTA - Presidential Chief of Staff (KSP) Moeldoko received representatives of Trisakti University students to discuss the resolution of past human rights issues, which received a positive response from the younger generation.

The Indonesian Student and Millennial Alliance (AMMI) assessed that Moeldoko's attitude was to imitate and carry out the mandate of the proclaimer and the 1st President of Indonesia Soekarno.

"For AMMI, Mr. Moeldoko's attitude directly shows that he respects and continues Bung Karno's mandate not to forget history," said AMMI Chair, Nurkhasanah, in a written statement, Thursday, May 19.

He referred to Soekarno or Bung Karno's written message which was given as a state speech on the Republic of Indonesia's Birthday, August 17, 1966.

Nurkhasanah said that Moeldoko's attitude really inspired her organization which consists of millennials and students, the younger generation who in time will receive the leadership relay.

"By showing an example to dare to imitate the good things of the country's leaders in the past, Mr. Moeldoko inspires us to dare to take good things from the examples that have grown in this country," he said.

"We have heard the wise words of a friend of the Prophet, that wisdom and example belong to all Muslims, and it is imperative to take and emulate it from wherever it comes," said Nurkhasanah, as quoted by Antara.

Regarding the contents of the KSP meeting with BEM Trisakti, AMMI also underlined several essential things. AMMI, for example, pointed to KSP's open and honest attitude regarding the settlement of cases of past human rights violations.

"The statement from the Presidential Chief of Staff, Dr Moeldoko, who ensures that the government does not remain silent and continues to prioritize past human rights violations by continuing to seek solutions to it judicially and non-judicially, while on the other hand invites BEM Trisakti to think in terms of the country's greater interests. area, in our opinion is a wise thing," he said.

Moeldoko, he said, even patiently explained that the judicial settlement would be used for new cases of alleged gross human rights violations (occurring after Law No. 26/2000 on the Human Rights Court was enacted).

Meanwhile, cases of alleged past gross human rights violations (occurring before November 2000), will be prioritized through a non-judicial approach, such as through the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

"It definitely gives a new perspective to Trisakti BEM friends," he said.
